Emergency Management131 South Cherry Street Columbus, IN 47202 About UsThe mission of Bartholomew County Emergency Management is to reduce loss of life and property and protect our county's critical infrastructure from all types of hazards through a comprehensive, risk based, emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. Our "goal" is to help our citizens prepare for and cope with any type of emergency. Our primary responsibility is to maintain the county's emergency operations plan. This document coordinates all fire, law enforcemnt, medical and allied disaster agencies. A large portion of our office's responsibility is to educate the general plublic and businesses on disaster preparedness and response. Our office is also responsible for emergency communications for the community in the event of a large-scale failure. We are the sponsoring agency of the Bartholomew County Search and Rescue Team. There are currently around 30 highly trained members on the team. We also are the sponsoring agency for the Bartholomew County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (R.A.C.E.S.) The office utilizes voice mail with pager capability. After hour phone calls are returned promptly. |
