the Youth Services Center If you locate your child or your
child returns home you need to inform the City Police or Sheriffs

Can I drop my kid off at the detention center?
NO.
Only Law Enforcement Officials can have a child detained
at the detention center without a Judge's order.

How can I get my child on probation?
Probation
is most effective if a child has a forthcoming charge from a
Law Enforcement Officer or a truancy referral from the school.
There is an Incorrigibility form that parents can complete at
the Court Services Center. Probation staff and a prosecuting
attorney will review the form and make a decision to file or
refer back to the parents. See the Incorrigibility section for

What time is my appointment?
Probation
officers schedule appointments with the probationer at the end
of each appointment. You need to keep your appointment time,
and be responsible for that time. It is your responsibility
to keep your appointment slip as a reminder of your appointment
date and time. back

When is my court date?

to a probation officer about your court date, or call the court

Where do I pay my fees?
All fees
are paid at the Bartholomew County Clerk's Office located on
the first floor of the courthouse. Fees must be paid with cash
or money order. Checks and credit cards are not accepted.

What are your hours?
Probation
officers are available from 8:00 - 5:00 Monday through Friday
with the exception of Holidays. back

Can I travel out of state while on probation?
You
must first get written permission from your probation
officer before you can travel out of state. back

Can you tell me if a person is on probation?
Juvenile probation will not release any information
to anyone without the proper release forms. All juvenile information
is considered confidential.

of AA & NA meetings?
Yes. A comprehensive list of AA & NA meetings
is available in our lobby. Ask the receptionist if you cannot
locate them.

12. Are
there AA meetings for teens?
Not specifically. However, there are certain
meetings held at the Columbus Fellowship Hall that teens enjoy
more than others. The best way to find out is to attend a
meeting at CFH and talk to the other participants.
There are specific substance use programs
for teens. Look in the Yellow Pages under Alcohol and Drug
for more information.

13. Where can I sign up
for anger management classes?
Check the Yellow Pages under Counseling Services.
You may call our office and speak to a juvenile probation officer
that may be able to guide you to a current anger management
class.

14. Do you have a parent
support group?
The primary parenting program utilized by Bartholomew
County Probation is the Parent Project. This is run through
the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center. For more information,
call our office or contact the Bartholomew County Youth Services
Center at 379-1690.

15. I have information
on a probationer. Can I tell someone about it?
You can divulge information to a probation
officer but that officer will not be able to disclose any information
to you. All juvenile information is considered confidential.
