Zone determinations are made by the City/County Plan Department

I have water standing in my yard, who do I call about it? |

If
your property drains into a Legal or Regulated County Drain,
the Drainage Board should be contacted. Tom Finke in this office
is whom you need to call and talk to. If you are not on a Legal
or Regulated Drain, Tom might still be able to help steer you
in the right direction,but the Drainage Board only has jurisdiction
over Legal or Regulated Drains. Back

5.
Can I find my property corners myself, and if so, how? |

If monumentation
has been set, a metal detector can help locate the metal pins
at property corners. Depending on the accuracy needed on the
property line, a private surveyor may need to verify the monument

Does your office have a copy of a survey done for my property? |

Plats are available in the County Recorder's Office. Back

7.
How far in from my property line should I set my new fence? |

If constructing
a fence on the property line, be sure the line is marked correctly.
If placing it back from the line, be sure the property is surveyed
so the fence does not get accepted as occupation. Back

My neighbor just hired a private land surveyor to locate his
property corners. The surveyor set pins in my yard, saying it
is really my neighbors'. What can I do? |

Site Plan is required by Building and Zoning in order to construct

Can you recommend a private surveyor to use? |

No, as
a government office, we cannot direct you to any particular
company. We recommend that you refer to the yellow pages and
look under "Land Surveyors" and go from there. We also recommend
that you call more that one and ask for a time frame and price.
Since surveying is somewhat seasonal, some firms may not be
able to meet your deadline. Back
